Nyjer® Seed 

Nyjer® seed or Niger seed (Guizotia abyssinica) is a very small, oily seed that is a favorite of finches. It is sourced from Asia and Africa. Prior to importing the seed into the USA, it must be heat-treated to prevent the seed from germinating. Although finches are known for eating it, other small birds will enjoy it, including redpolls, siskins and others. To offer birds this high protein seed, hang a finch feeder or a Heath prefilled finch sock.
